SUSPENSION OF GAMES
following the recent last two games in which our team failed to fill in Eleven players, i have decided to cancel all future friendly games till further notice. We are coming across as a joke to the opposing teams. i strongly believe that if we have enough team players for the last two game, we would have won comfortably. Kudos to the 9 players that played in the lat game and fighting it out without the luxury of reserve players to sub us.
I understand that this team is merely for fun kickabout but do give consideration and a bit 'face' to us that organise this teaM. I hope to see more commitments from the team members. Our Number 6 can forget it ar....

Pltaw FC ( 1 ) Vs Team Toy"R"us ( 2 )
The Bears were humbled to ground again after their win last week. A narrow loss for the Bears that sees the opposition taking the lead half an hour into the first half. The score remain unchanged at half time and the Bears came charging for the second half with full force only to be denied by some poor finishes. The Away team managed to double their lead with a powerful shot into the top centre of the goal which the Bears custodian could have done better . A late Jamal goal sent the the game into an entertaining last 10 mins with the Bears searching the equaliser to sent the game into penalties. We almost have our own Lee Bowyer and Kieran Dyer episode. Play Ball Big Boys ! The opposition had a player wheeled away into ambulance after suffering concussion when he ran straight into the legs of Iron Man Faizal Ferdinand who was solid again in his new role, and fell awkwardly to the ground. The Bears Hope U ar doin Fine Mate ! Thats for it till the next game ! Chin Up Lads!

3-1: Battling Bears Bounce Back
Much can be said if you are coming into a match at the back of three straight losses. The Bears showed today they could do it and do it in style with their monumental first ever win in their 4 match history against Frozchatiq FC.
To add icing to the proverbial cake, it was the first ever goals that came during open play. Contributing to the weekend goal feast was our No. 77, Faris Fong, doing his best "Crouch" impersonation upfront, opening the floodgates half an hour into the first half with a simple tap in after good assist from "The Jenggo" from the left side of the pitch. The moment was savoured with squeals and hurrahs from the spectators stands (consisting of a grey bench made up mostly of WAGS, a set of parents and a child mascot kicking about on his own. Such was the grandiose of our support).
The Bears had a magnificent first half and tested the defence to the limits at times with some attacking endeavours. Only the lack of understanding and match sharpness prevented us from adding to the score line before the break.
The defence was marshalled superbly by Faizal, making his debut in central defence, and of course, Borhan, ever present to mark his man out of the game. Fariz, our on loan player for two games running now, sporting a "le Bleus" top was doing his part in the defensive midfield role, and seemingly possessed by the enterprising spirit of Makalele and the attacking prowess of Louis Saha on a good day. He further sealed the comfortable win with a brace in the second half, first coming off a superb turn and shoot move in the penalty box to beat rival custodian, Justin, God bless his soul, who appeared to have lost a little bit of concentration due to lack of inspiration following the torment at National Stadium earlier last week by our own Lucky 1. Little did they know their paths crossed on this fateful day to settle the score, and his juvenile antics in the middle of thousands that night to taunt him paid off. Clearly Justin was a little shaken by the experience he did not know what hit him. But credit to Justin, we salute you for having a wonderful game between the sticks, but being beaten by 3 superb goals which he cannot be possibly blamed for.
We had a major share of the attacking in the first half, with our midfield diamond of Jenggo in the middle and flanked by Peros on the right and A'an on the left, whilst all the while, Sher was holding the lower end of the formation. Hakim, as usual had a solid game in the left back slot, while credit goes to Firdaus for manning the right back slot with enough endeavour to keep the score line to our favour in the first half.
The Bears started the second half with a few changes in personnel to introduce fresh legs and add more firepower, but it seemed that the opponents came out with guns blazing with an equalizer early in the second half. We refused to throw in the stinking towel just yet, knowing that it is game we could possibly win. The opponents came close to taking the lead and had the heroics of our Lucky 1 to thank for, diving like he had never dived before to salvage the game with a fantastic one handed save to keep us in the game, even though we were starting to get on the back pedal. We had a slight setback when Sher, came off with cramps, but we managed to hold the fort until, late into the second half, when Fariz rescued the points with two goals in a space of three minutes, the second being a header from the near side of the post, which had the keeper fooled. Never had the three blows of the refree's whistle sounded so good in our lives.
Injury and Discipline update:
Watching from the stands, was our No. 23, Helmi, (hawking his cast with a $1.20 marker for autographs), back from injury but still 3 weeks away from full fitness to rejoin the fray. His presence seemed to lift the spirits of the battered bodies of the Bears who felt they had to win it today for him. On a more positive note, The Bears played a clean game of football and not a single unnecessary yellow was flashed, credit to Peros, who resisted tormenting opposition's keeper with his block during goal kick. Snigger. Firdaus seemed to have kept his baptism of fire in check for this game.
So that's that. Our man on the European trail, Tohari Paijan (he isn't even remotely related to the team or have any relations to us, although the we like to name drop him to add colour to the report. Eerrr.. keep up the good job Tohari P. You the MAN), couldn't give his assessment and analysis in time for upload so we are going ahead without him. yeah, like he gives a damn anyway.... All in all, we showed we were made of sterner stuff and showing promise of what is yet to come. Glory was the order of the day, so enjoy this victory while it lasts, gentlemen.
The future looks bright for the Bears. Keep on trucking! We are on our way.
Watch this space. Another win might just be in the cards.
Keep your fingers crossed for now.

Pltaw FC VS Frozcahtiq FC
PLTAW FC vs Frozchatiq FC
Pltaw Fc will take the pitch for our fourth match
Pltaw FC vs Frozchatiq FC
Date: 08 June 2008
Venue: Teluk Kurau Sec School
Time: 2pm*
Cost: $45 per team
Referee: Shamsul Maidin ( FAS )
Our fourth game lads..Its about time to put respect to our team. I strongly believe in this squad. We wil play as many games as possibble. Lets go for a win.
Team update
Peroz Mascherano will be suspended for this game after collecting two consecutive yellow cards. However it is understood that the club is appealing to the FA over this ban. Hilmi will also be missing due to international duties ( reservist dok) . Helmiduardo ,long term casualty will sit out of this game as well after a discolated knee. It seems that he is flying to US to meet renowned knee specialist Dr Richard Steadman to look into his knee. Dr Steadma is the man responsible for fixing back the knees of Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Ronaldo,Alan Shearer, Michael Owen to name a few and now our Helmiduardo . Pltaw custodian, Farehan Bosnich is also doubtful for this game due to lacking match fitness, a replacement GK on loan is being called to provide reinforcements between the posts. Other notable absentees include Rendra and Sadick aka Assassin due to personal commitments. Apart from them the team is also keeping its finger cross that Iqi will be cleared to play his debut game this weekend. Pltaw Fc is favorites goin into this game despite 3 consecutive losses. So Wind it up Lads !

Formation Suggestion
Our last match got me thinking about our formation. And graciously enough a particular member in our team has come up with a formation that he thinks will be effective for our team. As requested, I will not name the member. Below is the formation.

Everyone has a part to play and as long as we keep to our role, I'm pretty sure we can get our first goal in open play in the next match.
The starting eleven for this formation (if possible)
Goalkeeper : Farehan
Left Back : Faris Foong
Right Back : Wayne a.k.a Park
Centre Back (L) : Faizal
Centre Back (R) : Borhan
Def. Mid. : Sadik
Left Mid. : A. Farkhan
Right Mid. : Helmi
Centre Mid. : Sher
Att Mid/ Fwd : Hidayat
Striker : Rendra
Instructions: Faizal will take the role of a sweeper and the role of a stopper is assigned to Borhan who will man-mark one of our opponent's striker. Both of you can change roles if needed. The left and right backs should perform zonal markings. Defensive Mid will act as a semi-stopper; trying to break down opponents attack rhythm. Central Midfielder will support the defence and the attack. The 2 side midfielders will help to cover the defence. Finally, Rendra will run around like a headless chicken, or rather, like a mosquito; being an irritation to our opposition's defence :P
We will play direct style football with short passes. Fullbacks may do some overlapping runs if they want to; provided there's players, normally midfielders, covering for them. In the event of a goal-kick from whichever side, the Def Mid will move up to the left of the central (holding) midfielder to even out the midfield line. Side Midfielders are also expected to compress more towards the centre during a goal-kick. Defence will not risk an offside play. GK is expected to bark orders to the defence and midfielders. Strikers will need to fulfil their defensive duties (don't watch blue out there). Let's pull off a string of 10 passes guys.
For those whom I did not mention in the starting line up, fret not because you guys are the most important players; when the first 11 have worn the opponents down, you guys will take over and get the win for us. That is what we are gunning for; a win. Lastly players should change their roles and position when duly needed.
p/s: Please comment on the formation. Constructive criticisms are greatly appreciated.

Ok Lads, the third game for us . As usual i will be tinkering again, call me the tinkerman. i keep tinkering till we et our formations right. This game may see Faris Fong playing as a striker and Sher given the Gatusso role as they have requested and have the confidence to carry these duties. Fringe players may start in these games. Like i say, i want my charges to fight till the final whistle. even if we are 3 goals down and 20 minutes to play, u never know what the final result will be if we fight till the end. It is not the size of dog but the size of the fight in the dog Lads .
Make me Proud Sons !
Meeting Point will be at Eunos MRT carpark at 3.45 pm.. All drivers encouraged to meet there so that we are able to provide shuttle to our team mates. Asar prayers will be catered at Aleem Siddique Mosque at Teluk Kurau Lor. K for players that wished to perform their duties. Lastly Adios and I wanna see the Battle on the field.

Players Caught Partying !

Pltaw Fc custodian , Farehan Bosnich and team marksman Peroz Mascherano are caught partying in Bintan, half an hour away from Singapore . Latest pics splashed over magazines across newstand islandwide will surely irk the Gaffer knowing that the team is at the back of two poor results and yet the lads are having a good time. Gaffer as quoted by CNA said that, the duo and other players Jamal Terry , Sadick the Baby Face Assasin and Ahmad Paijan will be asked to explain themselves in front of board members. The players face up a fine of two weeks if found guilty.

Working Hard, Training Smart
Working Hard, Training Smart
Glad that we are having fun playing. However, it seems that along with our burning desire to play and win, we need adequate skills to match. So as corny as it sounds, we need to practice and train pronto!!! Apart from some obvious players, most of us seems to be running like hyperactive turtles with no direction.
My suggestion: We play a 4 or 5 a side match between ourselves on a futsal turf or hardcourt. We will play 3-touch football; meaning a player can at most have 3 touches of the ball before passing it to his teammate or before shooting it. The aim of this session will be to increase the level of teamwork and to better ourselves in controlling the ball. This will also improve our "off the ball" running.
Usually if you play for a team with a coach, the coach will always go "Get the first ball!". Meaning if the ball is in the air or a pass is being executed, instead of waiting for the ball, we have to go and grab the ball first before our opponent does. For our team, we did get the first ball, its just that our first touch of the ball usually let us down. All that can be changed, with a little luck and a lot of practice. Come on GUYS!! You are going to teachers in charge of soccer in the near future!!! Polish up your skills!!!
Gambate!!!

Pltaw Fc 0 - Fake Madrid Fc 4
The results is unflattering . We lost by 4 goals. A courageous performance by the team. Goalkeeping errors and defence lapse let us down. Nevertheless, it was great to see the team putting a better and solid display compared to our first game. MOM , Borhan was rock solid and discipline throughout the entire game. We also see the return of midfield general, Faizal who had to take an early leave due to hamstring injury. Firuz, earn himself a yellow card for a needless foul ( lu dah complete player la now Boi ) .. Chin Up lads, we lost as a team..Our first victory, i assure u is not far away..

Pre-Match Update
ok. 4 more hours or so before the second match. you people should have woken up by now. if not, damn it! it's ok. continue sleeping. it's the weekend, anyway.
to kick off today's pre match report, here's an update.
the weather east side is looking mighty fine for a late afternoon kick about or and ass whipping session (ours that is). Forecasted occasional light rains, temperatures ranging from 24 to 31 degrees celcius. How occasional the rain might be, no one can exactly predict, but we cannot depend on the rain to make it happen, although we pray the hot evening sun won't make an appearance.
the bears today take the field with a slight change from the first match. Back in the squad will be Sher, hopefully feeling better after being down with fever. Our number 10, faizal is also fit after a dislocated shoulder deemed him unfit after half an hour against manu sg. notable absentees will be rendra off for a quick getaway that was granted over compassionate reasons. married personnels seemed to be the absentees this week, including hilmi and nude who could be out for a porn filming session, what with the number 69 on his back and all. no nonsense bonafide porn star.
oh and this just in. seems that our number 6, iqi is still tied up with the bosman ruling having problems with agents and maybe his car stalled along the way, waiting for a tow. so he's out. in his place we seem to have been infiltrated by our opponents last week although he was an absentee, a player name fariz, an unknown quality to us, but nevertheless, we lack in that department anyway. so that's that. the more the merrier. merry christmas.
Predictions for the match
Before we get specifically on match matters, the 100-1 odds is for sadik to report late, although he lives nearby. he might even still be sleeping ten minutes from kick off. lift your hats to our number 11, for he sets a good example of being a perfect procrastinator. the nearer you live, the farther it gets it seems. so sadik. you have been warned. more of this antics and you shall be banished to be the massage lady for two weeks.
as like the first match expect more huffing and puffing and panting and raving and self destructive offside traps. we will try our best to score or at least hold on to our lead. that should be our short term goal. so far we havent practice the most physical and important aspect of our game, that is: THE GOAL CELEBRATION.
LIKE THE SAYING GOES: KALAH TAKPE, STYLE MAU ADA.
(translated to canot make it english: lose nevermind, as long got style, mah...)
so carpediem. seize the day. see you on the pitch. do not be late. or it's your ass on the proverbial line.

Possible additions to our home kit.
We have managed to secure an understanding with ' The Animal Concerns Research and Education Society (ACRES, http://www.acres.org.sg/)', to have their name emblazoned on the chest of the jersey. Since we are against animal cruelty (or at least i think we should... i don't really know what you guys are up to when you are alone with animals...i pray to God, its only patting or maybe feeding them), it would be good to indirectly create a little more awareness to the public for ACRES when we are playing and indirectly acting as an ambassador to the society. (if not that, well, it will fill up the space in front and make us look more like a 'sponsored' football team, albeit only in theory. haha.
Below here is a sample visual of what it might look like if the printing is given a 'go ahead'. waste 5 seconds of your life to try and appreciate it. we promise you it will be worth your while.

cheers and good luck! go bears!

PLTAW FC vs Fake Madrid FC
Pltaw Fc will take the pitch for our second match against Fake Madrid FC.
Take note, i heard this will b a strong opponent we are up against, but it is not about the size of the dog but the size of the fight in the dog. We can keep avoiding playing tougher opponents then we are not a football team better off playing netball...So bros, put on your gear, be disciplined and fight like a man and play as a team. There will be some changes. We welcome Sher back and hope to see Borhan and Iqi in action. Ali still far off from return date. Faizal has pass medical, will be great to have him back. Farehan has also pass the beep test (tahula aku).
PS: We got aproval from ACRES to have their logo on our shirt!

The Bears are A-Coming.
This might be a little overdue since we already played our first game. Here's a little look at our regular line-up, yes all 20 of them in order of squad numbers. we have 2 import players by invite. we are currently looking for sponsors to print on our chest.
we might give ourselves the 'bear' moniker...but i guess the similarities that we see are in our hibernation during games. hah! but let me stress here that we are against animal cruelty...so sleep all you want bears!
01. farehan
02. hilmi
04. borhan
06. iqi (import no. 1)
07. firdaus
08. sher
09. ahmad farkhan
10. faizal
11. sadik
12. hidayat
13. wayne
14. farhan
15. hakim (import no. 2)
17. jamal
19. firuzjalal
23. helmi
46. ali
69. nude
77. faris
99. rendra
this is by no means the final line-up. we might add sum nigerians if we meet them in serangoon one of these days to beef up our leaky defence, our immobile midfield and our toothless attack.
this sounds so sad.
but our spirits remain high. the mind is willing but the body just runs out of air. sometimes. well...err...most of the time...nuff said.
godspeed.

The Sophomore Effort.
they always say that the sophomore effort is always difficult, having to live up to its predecessor. well, at least we cannot do any worse than our first match. we still stand a fighting chance as i see it. that's if we can keep the subs bench filled and replacements keep getting supplied. and oh yeah, if we managed to string a couple of decent passes. that would be helluva fantastic too.
the game will be at changkat changi secondary school at 4pm this saturday, 10th may 2008. be there. cos if you're not...well, it's no big deal anyway. (hah!)
against tanjong katong alumni of sorts if i'm not mistaken.
till then, here's to our health.
jolly well and cheers.
goodness gracious me, we need a win. like badly.
what more can i say. bring on the weekend.
firuz.

Please Listen To A Woman
Yeap.... Please Listen To A Woman or PLTAW... That's our team name... Does not really make any sense but nevertheless it is unique.. Just hope it's not copyrighted.
We had our first training session on the 25th of April 2008 at St. Wilfred's pitch at 11 in the morning. Was a cloudy day, so we were able to run about like headless chickens for quite a while. The effectiveness of the training session varies from person to person so I can't say much.. :P But we had fun at the very least. Some got injured but managed to live on...
Our first match was on the 27th April 2008 at 11am in the morning too. This time it's at Tampines Safra. The weather...Damn HOT.
The score: 1 - 3.... not in our favour..
Casualties: 2 Yellow cards, a dislocated arm and a few other cramps... It's a battlefield out there...
Our opponents: MAN U fan club.
We were leading 1 - 0 early in the first half through a fabulous edge of penalty box freekick from our midfield maestro A'an.
Our opposition managed to grab the equalizer from the spotkick after our courageous custodian had to bring down the "katek" striker. In our defence, he was already in an offside position when he brought the ball down.
(First Half : 1 - 1).
Due to the hot sun shining on our "classroom conditioned" bodies, we lost our concentration early in the second half and conceded 2 more goals as the referee failed yet again to see the offside trap that we had deliberately laid.
"The bugger was literally offside!!"
Our first match = our first defeat.

The good news is there's no where to go but UP!!! Woohoo!(yeah right...)
Salutations to all who have worked their extreme best for the match and look forward to the next.
